ABC International, Another City, IN    Oct 1984 to June 1989  
As Plant Accounting Manager, ABC Roll Division, manufacturer of pressure sensitive paper was responsible for supervision of total accounting functions for Ft. Wayne operation plus remote contract operation. This included: coordinating monthly close and preparation of operating statements; established plant standards, plus monthly forecasts, reviewing capital requests; controlling on-site IBM System 36 computer plus remote System 38 terminals; ensuring integrity of plant internal controls.

  • Contributing member of initial plant start-up team, recognized by Corporate Headquarters for outstanding achievement in Cost Control.  

  • Implemented and established inventory control procedures at contract manufacturing operations.  

  • Established unique, timely capital planning method which efficiently matched dollars to projects and stayed within budgeted guidelines 4 years in succession.  

  •  Member of projects that analyzed information flow for business integration and implementation of bar-coding inventory control system.  

DEF Corp, This Town, IN   Aug 1981 to Oct 1984  
As Plant Accounting Manager, (4-82 to 10-84) for the Ice Division in Lea, MN, a manufacturer of ice machines, was responsible for manufacturing budget, burden projections, preparing project authorization requests, developing and analyzing cost related reports to control labor and spending variances plus month-end closing details and developing standards.  

  • Initiated production supervisors' involvement in budgeting and capital process resulting in more realistic budgets which were under control.  

  • Established operational reports for manufacturing supervisors which allowed for greater understanding of cost controls.  

  • Member of MRP II project team for evaluating software and project implementation.  

As Plant Human Resources Manager, (5-83 to 10-84), had concurrent responsibility for union relations, workers compensation administration, and wage & benefit surveys.

  • Initiated discussions with 8 local doctors in workmen's compensation which led to major cost savings and less lost-time absence.

As Financial Controls Manager, (8-81 to 4-82), King Division, Fort Wayne, IN was responsible for documentation, development, implementation, and maintaining division's system of internal controls.   Analyzed current and proposed policies which improved systems with most cost effective solutions and improved management and employee understanding of job functions and transaction flows.

As Cost Accountant (4-81 to 8-81) in the Conductor Division, Fort Wayne, IN a manufacturer of mining cables, terminal cables and custom machinery, was responsible for establishing standards, preparing monthly journal vouchers, statements and variance analysis. Prepared plant budget, plus reconciliations for fixed assets and physical inventory.

As Assistant Plant Accountant, (8-80 to 4-81) Springs, MI was responsible for accounts payable, inter-company billings, monthly journal vouchers, budget and variance analysis.

As Corporate Accounting Management Trainee (5-79 to 4-80) in the Machinery Division, Ft Wayne, IN a manufacturer of capital equipment and wire terminal ends was responsible for internal controls evaluation of division office and six plants, including 2 foreign operations. Prepared budget, monthly statements, and variance analysis for machinery plant.
